Singapore’s Push for Electric Vehicles

Our lives change rapidly in this age of technological advancement. In a span of 50 years, we saw the mediums of listening to music change, from records to cassette tapes, then to CDs. Now, music can be digitally downloaded. Telephones are another example; they used to only be accessible at home or at phone boxes in public. Today, new homeowners are unlikely to own a landline due to the invention of portable phones that are incredibly fast with access to the internet – they are essentially pocket computers.

The next step is the change from gas fuelled vehicles to electric vehicles. This follows the global trend for environmental sustainability as it will lead to a decrease in air pollution and help to create a cleaner environment. Singaporean firm Charge+, has vowed to install 10,000 electric vehicle charging points across Singapore, following on the heels of the government’s commitment to phase out internal combustion vehicles by 2040.

Of course, this endeavor is made easier by Singapore’s small land mass. Still, it is a change to be celebrated and any entrepreneurs in the renewable energy industry will find their business welcomed in this location. It is also worth noting that government funding may be available in certain countries for relevant businesses.
